An Annoyance-Free Website

I have some pretty strong opinions about what makes a good website, and even more about what makes a bad website. There are a great many things that will drive me away from a site in a hurry, all of which I'm determined to avoid at The Practical Romantic. A partial list of these things include:

• Pop up windows
• More ads than content
• Flashing advertisements
• Unclear navigation
• The inability to find something I've seen before
• Unprompted sound

I want people to come to TPR and enjoy themselves, hang around, and have fun. If they're gritting their teeth and reaching for the mouse in frustration, that's a failure on my part. If you feel irritated at any of the mechanical, navigational or visual aspects of my site, I haven't done the job I'm striving for.
